Google, Facebook and Apple have signed an agreement that will allow users of their Google Play services to use credit cards for purchases.
The new program is the first major step in a new trend for digital services, with many digital platforms taking a more active role in digital commerce.
Google Play will offer free credit cards to all users of its mobile apps, including Google Play Movies, Google Play Music, Google Maps and YouTube, according to the company.
Users will be able to pay for items like movies and TV shows, and even purchase new items.
The credit card program will come as Google, a Google parent company, is working to bring its free mobile apps to more devices.
It already offers the ability to pay with credit cards at Google Play, but only for purchases made on Google Play accounts.
Apple, meanwhile, is taking a different approach with its apps, offering a limited number of free credit card options to Apple’s iOS, Mac and Windows devices.
The company will begin offering this option for all of Apple’s mobile apps in the coming weeks, and Apple is expected to offer similar discounts for Google Play and Amazon.com’s Kindle devices.
“Apple Pay is an important part of Apple Pay,” said Paul Thompson, a senior vice president at Google, in a blog post on Thursday.
“It makes paying for things faster and easier and makes it easier to get our apps on as many devices as possible.”
Google will be launching a new payment service, called Google Wallet, on September 29.
That service will allow shoppers to pay in one of five different ways:With the Google Wallet app, users will be required to have a Google account in order to make a purchase.

Users will be limited to using one Google account per account.

Google Wallet will be available to Apple and Android users on September 30.
The first version of the Google Pay app will be free to download.
The second version will be $3.99.
Google is offering free credit to all Google Play users through a special Google Play Rewards program, with the option to redeem for up to $20 worth of merchandise.
The Rewards program allows Google Play members to receive a credit of $10 for every $1 they spend on purchases made using their Google account.
Google also announced a new program called Google Pay for Schools, where students can earn credits by paying for goods and services at schools or colleges through Google Pay.
The rewards program is available through Google Play’s app store and Google.com.

The Google Pay program was launched in March with more than 5,000 schools and colleges participating.
The program allows users to earn credits for purchases at participating schools.

Google will also offer a credit card to people who use its Google Play Store, where they can earn free credit through the program.
The credit card will be tied to a Google Account and will be valid for six months from the date of purchase.
Users who have been a member of Google Play for at least five years can earn rewards by purchasing eligible products through Google, including books, games, music and movies.
Google Play will also reward eligible users with credit for purchases by linking them to a shopping account.
Google is working with a number of partners to support the program, including Best Buy, Best Buy Prime, Amazon, Amazon Prime, Dell, and eBay.
Google has not said when it plans to offer the Google Rewards program.
