A new chapter in hockey’s evolution is unfolding in Minnesota.
The St. Paul Saints announced Wednesday that they have acquired defenseman Zbynek Michalek from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Zach Bohlman and a 2018 first-round pick.
The deal is subject to waivers and the team will receive a fourth-round selection in 2018.
Michaletek, 30, has posted five goals and 11 assists for 21 points with Columbus this season.
He had 16 goals and 42 points in 77 games with Columbus last season.
Bohlmann, 30 and a native of Poland, has five goals with the Blues this season and had four assists in 18 games with Minnesota.
He has one goal with the Predators and six assists in 13 games this season with Columbus.
Michalski had six assists and was +9 with Columbus in 2015-16.
Michaliski was selected by the Blue Jackets with the No. 8 pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
